Pier started his career in the Climate Change & Sustainability division of ICF International, where he co-founded ICF’s energy efficiency finance strategy service offering, working with private sector and municipal clients to evaluate the evolving landscape of energy efficiency financing options and structure internal and external investment vehicles. Pier co-authored the first Green Revolving Loan Fund implementation guide, in partnership with the Sustainable Endowments Institute, and a whitepaper on Sustainability Investment Funds in the corporate sector in partnership with Annie’s Homegrown (the mac and cheese company), eBay, and adidas. As a result of his work at ICF international, Pier and his colleagues identified a large unmet demand for low-cost financing for small and medium scale efficiency projects, and they have spent the last year working to build a company to meet that demand.
Pier is a Co-Founder & CEO at Spark, a startup focused on building a crowd investment platform to connect individual investors with high-quality energy efficiency projects. Spark’s mission is to provide Americans with a new way to invest in our communities, while providing much needed capital for energy efficiency projects in small businesses, community organizations and schools.
