Assi is majoring in Environmental Studies with a focus on Economics, and minoring in Chinese. Assi grew up in a small town in rural Finland, where the forest was her favorite playground. At 17 years old she was admitted to the UWC of the Atlantic in Wales, and these two years by the sea, two years shared with friends from all over the world, changed her forever. Since coming to Middlebury, she has been involved with the divestment movement, volunteering, and organizing as well as joining actions for environmental and social causes. Last summer she interned with the New Economics Institute at Great Barrington, and gained passion towards alternative economic systems and practices.
This summer Assi interned with Greenpop in Cape Town, South Africa. The entrepreneurial organization works with re-forestation and local employment, and Assi helped them with their outreach, social media work and organizational tasks.
